NEW FARM MANAGEMENT SIMULATION DEVELOPED

The aptly named computer software program, FarmSim™ has been in the development stage for the last two years and gives prospective buyers the chance of being in charge of different types of Australian farming property.

The FarmSim™ developers, identified a market for an inter-active, user friendly farm management simulation that could be used by existing farmers, agricultural students, people who were considering moving to the bush or even city dwellers who had an interest in agriculture.

They then set about creating a software program that would replicate the operation and management of typical farming properties in Australia ; that was user friendly, interesting and educational. 

According to FarmSim™ project manager, Allan Sams, the software package is a recreational yet instructive product, based on two years of up to date agricultural research and actual farming scenarios in different areas.

“We have used professional Microsoft endorsed programmers to develop the software and the simulation will be a powerful modeling tool suitable for senior school age upwards,” Mr Sams said.

“FarmSim™ is designed to allow computer farmers the virtual freedom to raise finance, buy property, purchase and sell stock and crops and pasture improve with a financial reporting and tracking mechanism at the end of each month,” he added.

The product will initially offer five geographical areas to farm, from Tropical and Western Queensland down into New South Wales and Victoria and across to South Australia. A West Australian version will be developed shortly. Just like in real life, random events like drought, floods and insect plagues will test you along the way. The simulation will offer assistance from time to time however the player management skill will increase with experience.
